Daphne Braces
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have for straightening smiles. These braces are generally made of metal or ceramic brackets that are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with our doctor, the brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply gentle, continuous pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.
Braces have a long history of successfully correcting a number of orthodontic issues. Because they can sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. Traditional braces also tend to require less of the complicated technology and expensive equipment that newer treatments rely on, making them a cost-effective option for straightening smiles.
Daphne Invisalign
Instead of using the brackets, wires, and bands traditional braces do, our Daphne Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. Invisalign aligners are made of a clear, comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. The trays are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series in order to keep the teeth moving in the direction we want them to. Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. This treatment option is popular with both patients and orthodontists, and is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.
Patient compliance is key with Invisalign, since the system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly. Neglecting to wear the aligners as directed can impede the results and also add time to the overall orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a viable option. A complimentary consultation with Glass Orthodontics will be able to determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
